Abstract :
A novel mobile robot based on the timing belts structure is designed to meet the special environment of high voltage transmission line. The robot combines claws, crawler, deicing mechanism and timing belts together, uses two motors to actuate deicing mechanism and timing belts and avoids obstacles relying on its characteristic of grabbing the transmission line discretely with the clawers. This robot has the advantages of small volume, simple structure, light weight, and easy-control system. The experimental results have proved that the robot is qualified with superior capability of crossing barriers and high efficiency of deicing.
