  • Abstract
The study proposes a type of aseismic bearing characterised by the double function of centring and locking the building after an earthquake. The negative effect, due to the moderate vertical displacement of the building during an earthquake, because of the bearing sliding spherical bowl, is amply counterbalanced by the considerable decrease of seismic energy in the building. The bearing may be with sliding or rolling friction and it is equipped with two or more electromagnet devices which start up electronically and which release the building when an earthquake starts and lock it when an earthquake stops
