Abstract
Characteristics of laser operation near the threshold are investigated in a mode-locked Nd:YAG laser. Near the threshold, the off-states of the laser operation are interrupted by the chaotic laser pulsations of on states intermittently. The intermittent behavior is reproduced in computer simulation and show that the phenomenon is the very on-off intermittency
