Abstract :
Considering environment protection and cost-efficiency, cloud radio access network (C-RAN) has received considerable attention. In C-RAN, centralized baseband units (BBUs) are composed of high-capacity processing units and realtime virtualization, so the BBU can control resource allocation according to the distribution of users, which will keep the system work with the highest bandwidth efficiency at any time. In this paper, we focus on dynamic resource allocation and user association in heterogeneous C-RAN. Furthermore, a dynamic deployment (DD) algorithm is proposed, in which the bandwidth allocated to a base station (BS) is proportional to the number of users associated with this BS. The performance of DD algorithm is compared with those of co-channel deployment and orthogonal deployment respectively. The upper bound of throughput is achieved by orthogonal deployment with the optimal sub-channels allocation. Simulation results indicate that our scheme can exploit the advantages of heterogeneous C-RAN, thus achieving significant gains in system throughput.
