Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a dynamic channel re-allocation scheme for Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) networks. In TETRA networks, the packet data transmission request is often rejected as it must be allocated with adjacent multiple slots. The proposed scheme is applied upon service completion, and all the used channels should be moved to the most suitable allocation, which means the new request will not be blocked as long as the idle channels are enough. Simulation results show that the dynamic channel re-allocation scheme can considerably reduce the packet data blocking probability and obviously increase the channel utilization at the expense of increased voice blocking probability. In addition, the performance is further improved better when the packet data call for more adjacent channels.
