Abstract :
In this paper the shunt active power filter using different reference current generation techniques is compared. The reference current generation technique consists frequency domain method that uses Goertzel Algorithm. The second method used for comparison is Enhanced Phase Locked Loop (EPLL). The Goertzel Algorithm and Enhanced Phase Locked Loop are used to extract the fundamental component of load current. The extracted currents are used for generation of template currents for reference current generation. The shunt active power filter is implemented using these two methods and investigated for three phase balanced and unbalanced loads using MATLAB/Simulink. The methods are investigated for transient conditions, computations and the results are compared for effectiveness of the above methods under different conditions.
