Abstract :
This paper deals with the Voltage flicker in power systems. Voltage flicker is one of the disturbances in power systems. This voltage flicker occurs due to non linear loads. A three phase four wire inverter system is consider to compensate the voltage flicker. The three phase four wire inverter can perform multi functions such as : 1) it transfers the power to the main line from DC link, and 2) it acts as shunt Active Power Filter to mitigate reactive power demand, unbalance current, harmonic content in load current, and neutral current at load. Inverter can perform these functions individually or simultaneously. In this paper voltage flicker mitigation can be done by using FCTCR (Fixed Capacitor Thyristor controlled Reactor) and 3-φ, 4-wire inverter (STATCOM) of eight pulses. From the above two compensating devices STATCOM results show effective mitigation of voltage flicker. Simulation results are shown in MATLAB software.
