Abstract :
Efficient and reliable dissemination of information are critical qualities required from the next-generation wireless communications networks such as mobile WiMAX (IEEE 802.16e). To this end, the physical layer of the standard is equipped with several modulations and forward error correction coding schemes. This paper investigated the performance of Raptor codes in IEEE 802.16e-2005 physical layer employing the different rates of Low Density Parity-Check (LDPC) code classes described in the standard as pre-codes. The results obtained showed that the performance of Raptor codes is better compared to the LPDC codes over the Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel.
