Abstract
Discusses the detection of buried objects by the EM Doppler spectrum scattered from an object being mechanically vibrated by an incident acoustic wave. Before an acousto-EM detection scheme can be effective, the relationship between the vibrating mechanical modes of an object and the scattered Doppler spectrum must be understood. In Sarabandi and Lawrence, an analytical solution for the Doppler scattering from a perfectly conducting circular cylinder was formulated. The present paper extends these results to a solid dielectric cylinder. Only the TM case is presented here, but results have also been obtained for the TE case.
