Abstract :
Since the conventional cloud computing architecture relies on centralised controls, it potentially produces bottlenecks, affecting the QoS provided to the Cloud customers. To this aim, in the recent years, to improve computing infrastructures, several P2P Cloud architectures have been proposed. In this paper we present a decentralised resource finding and allocation approach - DEVIRA (Decentralised Virtual Resource finding and Allocation) - aiming at supporting cloud customers in selecting virtual nodes in a Cloud Federation. In our approach, virtual resources of a Cloud IaaS Federation are organised in an overlay network, which eventually features the same structure of a small-worlds. Resource finding is performed in a fully decentralised fashion, as the customer request can traverse the network quickly and reach any node of the system in a targeted manner. We also present some performance measures which validate the proposed approach.
