Abstract
The Modular Multilevel converter (MMC) is the most promising variant of Multilevel converter topologies for High voltage applications such as High Voltage Direct current (HVDC) transmission systems, Flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) and Motor drives. The most challenging issue in the operation of MMC is the Sub-Module (SM) voltage balancing. The paper deals with the analysis of MMC using two different Modulation schemes namely H+1 and 2H+1 modulation and also balancing of the sub module voltages. Simulation results are shown using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
