Abstract :
In mobile ad hoc networks, fault tolerance is considered to be a primary research issue due to the malfunctioning of mobile nodes and some adversary environments that rise during the routing of packets. The primary concern is including the fault tolerance strategy to the design of routing protocols which works with the multipath routing strategy. Nodes in the mobile ad hoc networks are assumed to have sufficient energy to drive the network but certain nodes may become faulty during the routing strategy which affects the complete routing procedure. In this paper, we are designing a new fault tolerant routing algorithm called Fault Tolerant Multipath Routing Protocol (FTMRP), which adds the fault handling ability to the multipath routing protocol. The result of this algorithm is simulated using NS2 and compared with existing Ad hoc on-demand multipath distance vector routing (AOMDV) protocol to show the enhancement in performance.
