Abstract :
The author introduces a new concept called STOM (serial transmission of original meter values), whereby the meter delivers original register values to the data collection system, thus avoiding problems and providing the assurance that data integrity is being maintained. The concept includes new data concentrator (transcoder) terminals as well as further development of proven electronic meters. The author also provides some points of comparison between traditional pulse transmission and the new concept
