Abstract :
This paper presents a faculty-course assignment problem that concerns an academic institution in Saudi Arabia. Rich constraints are considered while assigning the teaching load to faculty members as well as other academic tasks. Preferences, conflicts and special institution constraints are taken into account. The overall objective is to maximize faculty satisfaction and load equity among faculty. A mathematical model and a GRASP metaheuristic are proposed for the problem. An application example is provided.
