Abstract :
We compare five methods for measuring the differential group delay (DGD) in a long-haul system. The commonly-used Jones matrix eigen analysis (JME) method is insensitive to polarisation dependent loss (PDL), but sensitive to Stokes noise. The other methods are more sensitive to PDL.
