Abstract
The European electric energy domain is undergoing a radical change from vertically integrated to open access configuration. Attention is here focused, among the several ancillary services, which could be provided in a competitive way, on voltage-reactive power regulation. Control strategies and specific devices are introduced and commented, supported by digital simulations performed on a sample production network, thus leading to assessment of positive impact upon grid security and reliability
