Abstract
Rapid deployment of communications infrastructure has long been a topic of considerable interest. A self-contained and decentralized wireless networking backbone is proposed. This networking architecture employs modular elements which enable flexible network planning and upgrading with cost-effective implementation. Mobility management for the moving users is also considered. Signaling schemes, including a modified flooding algorithm, are introduced. An analysis based on the M/G/1 queuing model is performed to estimate the routing delay and bandwidth requirement for the signaling traffic. Some numerical results are given to demonstrate that the proposed signaling schemes are reasonable and practical
