Abstract :
A new solid-solution of sodium containing layered transition metal oxides having P2-type structure, (1-x)Na2/3[Ni1/3Mn2/3]O2- xNa1/2[Fe1/2Mn1/2]O2 (x = 1/3 ~ 2/3), is synthesized, and their electrochemical properties are examined in aprotic Na cells. Among the solid-solution materials, a Na//Na11/18Fe1/6Ni2/9Mn11/18O2 cell delivers the highest reversible capacity of 170 mAh g-1 at the averaged operating voltage of 2.8 V with good capacity retention.
