Abstract :
In this paper, we present a surveillance camera system with face recognition functionality. The face detection algorithm is based on AdaBoost and Haar-like features, as proposed in [1]. The recognition process is an extension of the Local Binary Pattern (LBP) algorithm which we have proposed in [2]. The system utilizes a digital signal processor (DSP) to implement the detection and recognition algorithms. An ARM processor is also used to provide network layer interfaces to connect the system with computers and other digital devices. Thus, we have built a low-cost, time-efficient and accurate face recognition system for surveillance cameras.
