Abstract :
H.264/SVC codec provides spatial, temporal and quality scalabilities of the video information and MIMO systems offer multiple spatial sub channels to transmit different video layers. In this paper, we propose a joint source-channel coding scheme for the delivery of scalable video over Multi-Input-Multi-Output (MIMO) wireless systems. To improve the power efficiency of the MIMO system, we investigate how to allocate sub channels and transmit power to the video layers under video quality and delay constraints. In the proposed scheme, we first determine the number of video layers, then allocate the optimal transmit power, constellation size, and transmit antenna for each layer. Simulation results demonstrate the advantage of the proposed joint source-channel coding scheme.
