Abstract :
A novel miniaturized microstrip equalizer is proposed in this paper. It is designed based on the simplified composite right/left-handed (SCRLH) transmission line theory. The resonant branch of the gain equalizer is realized with SCRLH zeroth-order resonator (ZOR) instead of the traditional microstrip resonator. Compared with the conventional quarter wavelength resonator, the superiority of the ZOR mainly lies in its compact size. The simulation results show the minimum insertion loss better than 0.6dB and the maximum equalization value more than 21dB from 0.8GHz to 2.2GHz. The overall size of the equalizer is 44×20 mm2, which is much smaller compared with the conventional equalizer.
