Abstract
The service life expectance of the ventilated dry-type transformer depends on the insulation deterioration rates of the materials used in the unit. Because the service life is also associated with the temperature produced by the resistance of the windings, to study temperature distribution of the windings is practically significant. A new kind of the dry-type transformer is developed, which is made of fiber-glass-reinforced plastics (in short FRP), its mathematical model of the thermal field is reduced and carried out by numerical calculation. Meanwhile, the relation between the deterioration rates of the insulation to the temperature rise are discussed in detail, and the service life is assessed for the unit
