Abstract
Image enhancement is one of the important tasks in image pre-processing to improve the image quality for other applies. The traditional morphological enhancement operator cannot well address enhancement process for low illumination color image. In this paper, we present a new morphological operator based on graphic theory for the enhancement of low illumination color image. Firstly, the notable Weber´s Law is applied in the derivation process of the new morphological enhancement operator. Secondly, a new vector morphology extremum extract (VMEE) algorithm is applied to define the morphological operators including erosion, dilatation and opening. Finally, the further experimental results from tests conducted on low luminance color images have shown the effectiveness of the new enhancement operator.
