Abstract :
According to the requirements and characteristics of the simulation tutoring system for weapon utilization, a knowledge base depending on the domain ontology was designed to support the knowledge representation of the tutoring system. At first, we introduced the structure and function of the simulation tutoring system. Then we can master the key points of using specific weapon by processing the information provided by experts of the corresponding weapon. After that, a knowledge base that can meet the conformance requirements of the knowledge representation was designed and implemented, as a conceptual model of weapon utilization knowledge was built through a combination of the ontology technology and various existing models. Finally, the workflow of the students was described using a block diagram, in addition to an overview of the development of the simulation weapon utilization and of a reasoning assessment of the functions of the weapon utilization programs. It proved that the designed knowledge base can be well applied to the simulation tutoring system, as commanders, through completing the weapon utilization assignments from the instructors, can get accustomed to weapon performance and master the rules of weapon utilization under the conditions of informationization.
