Abstract :
This paper is talking about First Interface Software Integrating between GIS (Geographic Information System) and PDSAS (Power Distribution System Analysis Software) in the Middle East and how it reduced time for modeling of power distribution feeders from 5 working days per feeder to 30 seconds per feeder. This project is called (PDSAS GATEWAY SYSTEM) which is implemented in Saudi Electricity Company. This project includes establishment, design and execution of an automated conversion system that joins between the geographic information system (GIS) and the Power Distribution System Analysis Software (PDSAS) to transfer the electric distribution networks database from GIS to PDSAS automatically with a huge saving in time, efforts and human resources and also with a high accuracy in modeling, analysis and results for Power Distribution System. The paper will talk about the concept of data extraction and how to maintain a high quality in its process. Then the paper will talk about the basis of modeling for each types of elements in Power Distribution System and how to make it simple and smart. Then the paper will describe a little details about the PDSAS (Power Distribution System Analysis Software) and its GATEWAY (Interface Software Integrating between GIS and PDSAS). Then the paper will talk about the powerful benefits of (PDSAS GATEWAY SYSTEM). Then the paper will show a case study which includes implementing of a Power Factor Improvement analysis and Capacitor Placement Assessment Analysis for a certain power distribution feeder by using PDSAS GATEWAY SYSTEM in 5 minutes only for the whole study, analysis, results and reports instead of 7 working days as was previously without this system. Finally the paper will include with the success secrets of GIS, PDSAS and GATEWAY systems in Saudi Electricity Company.
