Abstract
Superconducting YBa2Cu3Ox (YBCO) films on yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) substrates were degraded by water. The film composition, crystal structure and resistivity of the samples were examined. The barium ratio of the water-degraded film was reduced. The resistivity of the water-degraded film increased significantly, and we confirmed that superconducting YBCO film had been transferred into the non-superconducting state. These results imply that water degraded YBCO film could be formed in situ in YBCO superconducting film and used as a dielectric material between superconducting interconnections or superconductor devices operated at liquid nitrogen temperature
