  • Abstract
Design characteristics and secondary side cycle efficiency of OPR1000 are analyzed based on mass and energy conservation equations. Detailed mathematical formulation and solution procedure is presented which can also be applied to any thermal power plants having re-heaters, moisture separators and feed water heaters. For the sake of simplicity, exergy analysis and irreversibilities associated with different components of the steam generators and turbine cycle sections are not taken into account. Additional constraints such as the quality of steam at exits of different turbine stages are considered. It is anticipated that this article will pave the way for further amelioration of the cycle efficiency in existing NPPs.
