Abstract :
This research aims to analyze link performance of Ka-Band satellite communication in Makassar. Analysis is carried out by calculating rain rate of time integration of 1 minute based on the Chebil model and then predicting rain attenuation based on the ITU - R P.618 - 8 model. Performance analysis is performed by link budget analysis to provide the knowledge of link availability. The result shows that rain attenuation for downlink of Ka-Band satellite link in Makassar is 19.92 dB at availability of 99.5% in one year. Whereas availability of 99.5% can be reached in which this availability is still allowed for internet access application.
