Abstract :
This paper presents two new approaches for quantitative jet engine localization in high resolution range-jet engine modulation (HRR-JEM) radar images. Whereas one is based on the signal eccentricity, the other is inspired by adaptive chirplet decomposition (ACD). The signal eccentricity serves as a reliable metric for evaluating the JEM contribution to each range bin signal. In addition, the chirplet parameter distribution derived from ACD can also provide supplementary means for jet engine localization. Examination with the simulated HRR-JEM image demonstrates that the proposed approaches are expected to be significantly helpful in advanced radar target recognition.
