Abstract :
A novel miniaturized quarter mode circular polarization (CP) antenna is proposed in this paper. The antenna is designed for the B1I band of Beidou satellite navigation system (BDS). Its structure is based on the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity loaded with two CSRRs, working in the quarter mode comparing with the conventional SIW cavity mode. The size of the antenna is much deceased in contrast to the traditional SIW cavity backed antenna. The antenna gain is 4.5dBi and the 3dB axis ratio bandwidth reaches 8MHz. Both simulation and measurement results are given in the paper, simulation result corresponds to measured result.
