Abstract :
A microstrip Bent Line Grid Array antenna for 5G mobile communications at 28 GHz is presented. In this work the transmission lines of the conventional grid array antenna are replaced with the bent lines in order to reduce the size of the grid area in both longitudinal and latitudinal directions with a remarkable reduction factor of 66.91%. The performance of the antenna is investigated based on the meeting point of the coaxial probe feed and the antenna structure. The obtained bandwidth for S11<−10dB is 3.65 GHz from 25.62 GHz to 29.27 GHz. The compact antenna shows outstanding 3dB gain drop bandwidth of 7.88 GHz from 22.71 GHz to 30.59 GHz with the maximum value of 7.3dBi at 29 GHz. The overall compact dimensions of the proposed antenna are 9× 12.66 ×1.5 mm3.
