Abstract
In this work, we present a simple method to realize a dual band antenna with pattern diversity using substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity at X -band. The proposed antenna operates at around 10 GHz and 12.5 GHz. Making uses of the first two fundamental modes of waveguide cavity, i.e., TE101 and TE102 , we can realize a monopole-like radiation pattern for the lower band and a broadside radiation pattern for the higher band. The proposed antenna is very suitable to be used in the communication systems where both satellite and terrestrial links are needed.
