  • Abstract
    A K-band dielectric loading substrate integrated waveguide(SIW) H-plane horn antenna has been proposed in this paper. The Substrate integrated waveguide technology allows to construct some types of antennas in a planar way. However, when the substrate thickness is much thinner than the wavelength, the poor matching, undesired back radiation and low gain of SIW horn antenna appear. The new structure entirely overcomes these limitations. It consists of a printed transition which improves the matching performance and front-to-back ratio (FTBR). The dielectric loading which is integrated with the horn in the same single substrate improves the gain of antenna. The measurement results show that the antenna obtains high gain (7dBi), good matching (19.6 GHz–22.9GHz) and good FTBR(21dB).
