  • Abstract
    A broadband dual-polarized antenna operating at 2.4GHz for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) application is proposed. The proposed antenna is designed with two different polarizations, which are right-handed circular polarization (RHCP) and left-handed circular polarization (LHCP). This broadband dual-polarized antenna is designed with method of inverted suspended rectangular microstrip patch antenna by using FR4 substrate and copper plate. The FR4 substrate and copper ground plane are separated with air gap layer. This method is proposed to enhance the bandwidth and gain of the antenna. In order to perform dual-polarization, the antenna is designed with two rectangular patches with connection of slanted strip line. The slanted strip line is printed on opposite side of inverted rectangular patch. These two inverted rectangular patches are printed with double circular slots and one triangular slot where the positions of slots are used to control the orientation of polarization. The simulation and measurement results show that the bandwidth of the designed antenna achieved more than 200MHz. The simulation results for gain and directivity of the proposed antenna achieved 8.83dB and 9.29dBi. The proposed antenna is designed and simulated by using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) software.
