Abstract :
Electromagnetic acoustic noise emission in variable speed induction motor is influenced by the characteristics of Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) output from the inverter. In this paper, correlation between electromagnetic excitation from an induction motor driven by an open loop vector control inverter and the radiated electromagnetic acoustic noise is investigated. Frequency analysis was implemented on the Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) waveform, surface vibration response and radiated electromagnetic acoustic noise. The results indicated that there is a strong correlation between the input electromagnetic excitation and radiated electromagnetic acoustic noise.
