Title :
IEE Colloquium on Passive Components for Power Electronic Systems (Digest No.1998/261)
fYear :
1998
fDate :

Abstract :
Passive components perform vital roles in all power electronic systems, Despite this they generally receive less attention than power semiconductor devices and control methods. The colloquium addresses this shortcoming and focuses on current practice and developments in passive component technology and applications. Resistive products are covered with presentations on resistors for high pulse energy applications and for high voltage, high dissipation, low inductance applications. Magnetic components are included with contributions on high frequency magnetic design and developments in materials. Advances in capacitor technology are covered with papers on high capacity polypropylene components and aluminium electrolytic components. Finally, a paper on custom busbar assemblies explores the technical considerations involved in combining passive components with power devices in a total converter design. The colloquium is of interest to all engineers involved in the design of power electronic systems over a wide power range
