Abstract :
A performance prediction model for 2 dimensional infrared detector arrays has been developed by the Future Systems Laboratory of GEC Sensors Ltd. This model produces summary performance parameters which are compatible with those already used by the infrared industry for assessment of thermal imaging equipment based on conventional technology. The extension of MRTD into the region in which aliasing occurs has been proposed in a manner which retains compatibility with existing definitions and measurement techniques. In addition to determining the performance summary parameters for the systems under evaluation, the model can also operate in a simulation mode using either synthetically generated images, such as bar patterns or targets more akin to the final application, or it can use high resolution stills from existing thermal imaging equipment as an input source
