Abstract :
A new model of crop response to water for the spring wheat in northern China was developed using the BPANN approach based on a set of data measured from a deficit irrigation experiment for the spring wheat. The analysis of its simulation results showed that the model is able to correctly express the relation between the yield and water use of the spring wheat. The comparison with the Minhas model, which fits well the same experiment data, indicated that the spring wheat´s sensibility to water expressed by these two models is identical and their results of yield forecast agree each other for the same water applications. This study has demonstrated the capability of BPANN approach to model the complex crop response to water.
