Abstract :
The split-loop phase-lock configuration has replaced the conventional long-loop as the state of the art in PLL receiver technology. It has been shown to possess superior qualities in both acquisition and in the tracking of difficult signals. It has been applied to the field of satellite tracking receiver design, with particular reference to the electronic beam-squint tracking system, and is described in a new configuration including an extremely stable cross-polar measurement facility. The receiver is capable of full dual-channel operation and a number of important applications using this facility are discussed
