E-management concept and process of crowd sourcing platform certification

The scope for ICTs in economic development and poverty reduction has expanded. Under the Digital Malaysia initiative the ICT industries which are crowd sourcing industry has been identified as a potential industry to help increase income. The major component in crowd sourcing industry is the crowd sourcing platform. In ensuring the credibility and reliability of Malaysian platforms and also local crowdsourcing industry, a platform certification needs to be established. The certification will also ensure local platforms meet certain technical requirements that are needed. The certified platforms will create confidence to job providers and crowd workers involve in crowd sourcing industry in Malaysia. Thus, the objective of this paper is to propose a framework of management system that caters the process of the certification. Focus groups meetings and workshops were held to gather information from stakeholders regarding the crowd sourcing practices, process and the components of the ecosystem. Follow up interviews were done with existing Malaysian platforms. The interviews help to uncover current practices and requirements in existing Malaysian crowdsourcing platforms. The findings facilitate the construction of generic framework of e-management to certify the platform. Other components like platform architecture and payment system need further study. A well design of e-management system of platform certification ecosystem is one step in ensuring sustainable growth of crowdsourcing industry in Malaysia.
