Abstract :
Applications of wireless communications to device-to-device and machine-to-machine attract more and more attentions. Moreover, in case that the existing infrastructures fail to work due to disaster like earthquake or other reasons, it is desirable that wireless terminals or devices within communication ranges quickly and directly form a network for information delivery. With this demand, the IEEE 802 task group of TG15.8 develops a new standard for infrastructureless Peer Aware Communications (PAC). There is neither hub station nor access point (AP) in PAC network. Therefore, single point of failure due to inability of AP as in conventional centralized control network will not happen. PAC can be used for information sharing and emergency communication by distributed in buses and neighbor community. We have studied PHY and MAC mechanism and proposed MAC proposals for PAC. Based on the above study and experience, we started the development of PAC experimental test-bed from 2013 in Tokyo and Kyoto areas, Japan. In this paper, we provide a brief overview of the test-bed, and due to the limited amount of PAC devices, we use simulator to evaluate the PAC safety confirmation system in Tokyo and Kyoto areas.
