Abstract :
This paper presents a review and a summary of the final results of the StatPEP project which investigated the Status of Power Electronic Packaging used in commercial DC/DC and AC/DC switch mode power supplies. The methodology of the project is described. Some of the salient results of a comprehensive benchmarking of DC/DC with rated power of 100 W and AC/DC converters (rated power 500 W) are presented. Examples for figures-of-merit are presented. The results of the investigation are presented in a generic form which does not identify individual products. The STATPEP project was co-sponsored by the PSMA, PEI technologies and members of PSMA. The final report of the project which includes more detailed information on the reviews described here as well as commentary from experts in related fields relevant to power electronics packaging is now available
