Abstract
One of the main research area which has attracted researchers attention is congestion control in vehicular ad hoc network as it is the key issue which needs to be addressed. Many congestion control algorithms have been proposed to control congestion problem, still appropriate solution has not been found. For this purpose various algorithms have been proposed but at the expense of beacons which is equally important in the vehicular communication network. In this paper, an adaptive congestion control algorithm has been proposed, which is a time slot based mechanism that address beacons and emergency messages. With the help of this proposed algorithm and the coordinator selection, emergency messages can be delivered to its intended recipients without any delay and that to without the expense of beacons.
