Abstract :
In this paper, a two degrees of freedom model has been constructed for a structural dynamic system consisting of a linear elastic plate bonded with piezoelectric sensors and actuators. An multivariable feedback controller is designed. Two control procedures, based on the minimization of performance output error, have been developed that use hybrid fuzzy-PID control (HFPIDC) and genetic algorithms-designed PID control (GAPIDC) methods. The fitness function for the GA-PID control is approximately proportional to the inverse of the output error. To test these control techniques in an efficient and systematic way, we built a control system that uses MATLAB/SIMULINK modelling software in a personal computer. The simulation results confirm that these two kinds of control methods are reliable and efficient in suppression of steady-state resonance vibrations
