Abstract :
The manufacturers of small wind turbines generally provide basic parameters of their products, resulting in increased uncertainty upon evaluating the performance of small wind turbines. Therefore, the useful and accurate modeling of a small wind turbine is significant. This work discusses the modelling and control of a small wind turbine. The basic topology design and control principle for small wind turbines are introduced, including mathematical modelling of permanent magnet synchronous generator, maximum power point tracking, and space vector pulse width modulation. Furthermore, the simulation circuit of a complete small wind turbine was established by using PSIM software and the simulation results are presented in this paper.
