  • Abstract
This paper presents the implementation of a novel three phase three leg AC/AC converter on an arbitrary load. Since the number of switches required in this converter is only nine which is much less than that of the number of switches required in three phase matrix converter, the gate drivers used in this converter is reduced drastically which in turn reduces the cost and losses of the system by more than thirty percent. Apart from those only six pulses is required to drive the circuit with the help of space vector modulation (SVPWM) which is used to control the input current and hence unity power factor is maintained. The duty cycle calculation for the input current control is also shown. Simulation results show the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed technique.
