Abstract
Image thresholding is an essential function in image processing. It is used to segment images in a simple, yet affective approach. One of the most popular thresholding techniques is moment-preserving thresholding proposed by Tsai in 1985. In this paper, we propose an improvement to Tsai´s method by introducing Gamma distribution to moment-preserving thresholding, which enhances thresholding result in case of asymmetric histogram modes.
