  • Abstract
Disruption of service caused by denial of services (DoS) attacks is an increasing problem in the Internet world and it is also a serious problem in wireless sensor network (WSN). Due to the limited resources and node energy in WSN platforms, we must tailor the security mechanisms based on the characteristics of WSN. We present a analysis on classification on five layers of available mechanisms for DoS defense. These defense mechanisms are used to prevent, detect, response and tolerate the DoS attacks. This paper provides better understanding of the DoS attack problem and enables a security administrator to combat and mitigate the DoS threat.
