  • Abstract
Nowadays, there is an explosive growth of commercial market which is based on mobile location service. One of the notable applications of location based service (LBS) is precision marketing which has displayed its attractiveness all over the world. The core of LBS is real-time and precise positioning technology. Positioning by mobile terminals and positioning by base stations are two major solutions. GPS or base station cell numbers are used in mobile terminal positioning. This positioning technology requests users to forward location information actively and an extra fee relating to internet traffic has to been paid. Also, the coverage of this positioning technology is quite limited. Positioning by base stations utilize the signalling analysis platform to acquire the location of users. Low accuracy of positioning and poor real-time performance are two main shortcomings of this positioning technology. The system we design can acquire the equipment information of mobile phones without the perception of the users. Software radio technology and independent devices are used in positioning for better performance. Equipment information and location information is collected in gateway and forwarded to application platform to provide real-time services to users. Wide coverage, high accuracy of positioning and good real-time performance are notable advantages of this system.
