Abstract
Nonuniqueness of the feedback gains is exploited to optimize the design of the robust regulator for linear multivariable systems. A scheme that minimizes the Frobenius norm of the steady state of the compensator while retaining the desirable closed-loop eigenvalues is proposed. This scheme aims at reducing the energy consumed by the compensator, and at the same time improving the transient response of the regulator systems. It is shown that the proposed scheme can be converted into a pure parameter optimization problem well documented in the literature
